While individual and family are important and necessary interventions, group therapy is based on the concept that peers can help and be helped by each other. Fostering trust, both in oneself and others, and the mutual respect that is its prerequisite, facilitates the courage that is necessary to confront oneself in the presence of others. While we do have specific theme groups, ex groups for students who have experienced significant trauma, conflictual divorce, adoption, or facing transition, along with DBT, and or social skills groups, we also have open-ended co-ed groups. Group therapy meets once/week and it is required that all students participate in group therapy.
