Now that spring is upon us, our senior class has been able to breathe a small sigh of relief while they make decide among the many acceptances for post-graduate plans. Now that the acceptance letters have been sent, students, parents and treatment teams are all collaborating on the decision of “where?” The list of college acceptances so far will gives seniors some diverse options including Colgate University, University of Hartford, Hampshire College, Skidmore College, Goucher College, Lynn University, Quinnipiac University, Curry College, University of New Hampshire, University of Rhode Island, University of Connecticut, Bryant University, Emerson College, SUNY Purchase, Endicott College, Roger Williams University, Johnson & Wales University, and Salve Regina University. At least 12 seniors have elected to apply to Grove’s Transition Program and continue their work with us, while moving off campus, getting jobs in the community and attending Middlesex Community College.
This summer, 43 students will stand before the community in caps and gowns as the largest senior class in Grove School history. Though graduating grade point averages won’t be calculated until after finals, we anticipate that over half of the class will graduate with a GPA higher than 3.0. The seniors represent day students and boarding students from 11 different states and 5 different countries. We will continue to work to prepare our seniors academically and emotionally for their upcoming transition through their classes, dorm meetings, group therapy and individual meetings with their families and treatment teams. We are proud of their hard work and amazing accomplishments!
